I'm not sure how one goes about creating a forum here on Houzz, but the NE gardening forum is only a shell of what it once was (before its acquisition by Houzz), so I fear that any gardening forum devoted to gardening in a single New England state would not get enough to posts to be viable. It's a pity, but it is reality.

I should think that a collection of gardening forums each devoted to a single growing zone (zone 4 gardening forum or zone 8 gardening forum, for instance) might be a useful creation and garner more members and more posts.

There is hardly any activity on the Maine forum. I agree that growing zone is more useful than state.

Forums need a critical mass of posters to be viable. That usually requires a broader reach than some people would like.

If you want a northeastern zone 4 forum, you could try doing something with the Upstate NY forum. There used to be some posters from the Adirondacks, but it has been pretty dead for years.

You can post here since there are VT gardeners who post here, and we would love to add another voice. And depending on where you are in VT you might be similar to somewhere in NH or central ME or upstate NY. As others have said, based on the ME forum, there just isn't the critical mass needed from one small state for robust discussions to take place. So your growing conditions might be similar to me, Spedigrees or defrost with our typical acid New England soils based on your zone, or it might be more similar to Mad Gallica who has more lime-based soils.

Many of us do a certain amount of traveling around New England and might be able to help with local things like nurseries in VT or garden tours even. Realistically, states are human created borders, and there are more northern New England gardeners here to share experience than you would likely get on a single state forum.
