i'm so so sorry but these are signs of dementia. she will not get better, i do not believe there are many, if any, meds that can really help her.

i would encourage you to talk to your vet and have her checked over but it does sound like her quality of life is very diminished. it's such a sad thing to see. this is an excellent article... http://www.aplb.org/resources/quality-of-life_scale.php. i urge you to read it, it will give you all of the insight you need to make this decision for your precious dutchess.

i, as well as many others here, have been down this road many times. i don't know if this if your first but even after many, it has never been an easy decision for me. i always take quality of life into consideration when i am making this decision.

i wish you the best. dutchess has been your faithful companion for a very long time. you need to keep her best interests at heart. you will heal from this loss but she will definitely take a large piece of your heart with her. (((hugs))) as you struggle with this time in your life.

Oh my goodness. :( Poor baby! And poor mommy, too! </3 I hope that you can make the right decision for Dutchess, whatever that may be in the time to come. In the meantime, enjoy every single moment with her. It is the absolute hardest and deepest pain I have ever felt. But you know what? It is so worth it. The pain, the tears, the heartache.. All of it, because at the end of tunnel we gave them an amazing life and they gave us amazing memories, that will never fade away or die. The joy they bring outweighs the heart break. Dutchess is beautiful do. Don't give up on her. 12 is young for a Yorkie.

Look up vestibular disease. That could be part of her problem. Dogs will eventually get better with it. My dog did.

Walking around in circles and bumping into walls is due to blindness. So is going in the opposite direction when you call because your voice is bouncing off the walls and that is the direction that she is picking it up from.

Look up seizures and magnesium. My dog used to get mild seizures and terrible leg and body shakes. Magnesium and potassium eliminated those problems.

Stick animals (and people) need a lot of extra nutrition. Vitamins and minerals will always be of benefit. Start researching.

Also take her to an animal eye care specialist. Cataract surgery may be an option.
