Do apple flowers demonstrate nyctinasty? I've not noticed it.

True, I have assumed they do demonstrate nyctinasty, but I am actually not at all sure. I do not know if I should open a new discussion but I have a related doubt.

Does the senescence of the flower organs occur once the apple flower has been successfully fertilised? I have tried to find information about this but I could not find any. I do not know if once a pollen tube reaches one ovule, and the microgametophytes nucleus successfully reach the ovule, then the flower stop producing floral rewards for pollinators, induce cell programmed death, etc.

Any idea about this?

Apple flowers don't close at night and they don't exhibit senescence other than the flower petals fall off after pollination. There is a June drop which is excess fruits falling off a month or more after pollination. But there are almost always a great excess of flowers that need to be removed by hand or with chemical thinners.

And the last issue. Anyone has any idea of how many ovules have to be fertilised per apple flower for the fruit to develop?
