Fraternal twins! ; ) sometimes it is really difficult to tell the differences with some cultivars.. makes you wonder why you need the expensive ones when they look like the cheapies

Hi Karin, in the first pic it looks like it isn't just one interesting leaf, but the whole eye that is sporting. If that is the case, are you thinking of separating that eye from the rest of your June? I think I probably would.

that first picture is the real Ice Age Train, a quite expensive one and I noted a few days ago that June is showing some leaf design that is similar to IAT. There are three or four leaves that look very nice, but I'm not sure if it is a sport. I will have a closer look this evening and if they are from a single eye I will see,,,

Both plants have the same light conditions for growing, sun from noon to evening. Poor IAT has brown spots from a late frost, but sun has not hurt him so far.

June must have seen you giving Ice Age Trail some extra attention and decided to compete for your affection. :D They're both very pretty.

Your IAT looks so different than mine - very pretty and definitely similar to June - so much so that I thought it was a June sport! I have IAT but my streaking is not as prominent or as consistent as yours.

June and IAT get at least six hours of sun, and this summer in Germany is a hot one and the sun is blazing. I'm amazed how they stand these conditions. I take care of watering them properly and the color of June is really nice and I think the hostas on the sunny side grow much quicker.

I got my IAT from a very good hosta friend who is paying close attention to his streakers and he would not send something that is not worth the money :-)

I read that IAT is in a line from Big Daddy, a blue one, so yours might be slowly reverting. That's why I thought in the beginning that it might not stand sun so well, but nevertheless I tried and was rewarded with those great colors. Does yours get much sun?

I will have to see what my IAT will be like through the years, normally I don't like streakers too much because of the attention they need to remove reverting eyes. But I fell in love with this one, passion overruled my scepticism...

I'm sure you're right, one year it will come up a solid blue. It is in a mostly shady spot and the gold doesn't change to white until later in the season.

My IAT is dark bluish green with lots of streaks. The leaves are corrugated. I have 2 Junes, one that is now in the sun (it used to be planted behind a large shrub which had to be removed) and another in a shady location. The June in the sun has leaves with very light centers. The June in the shade has leaves with much darker centers.
