Ours isn't a fancy staircase but thought I'd share our revised staircase to basement. The berber was still in good shape after nearly 21 years, but I didn't want to vacuum carpet anymore. My primary store didn't carry the wood anymore and my secondary store discouraged putting the wood on my stairs because it would be too slick. So I went with Mannington Athena in Corinthian Coast rectangles, offset by 1/3. My other option was to have each stair exactly the same with a full plank down the middle and a smaller piece on each side, but I like the variety.

The stairs have a titanium stair nose. I was telling the installer I wanted to get the stairnose to match the Mannington but it was going to cost about $1000 more since my stairs are wide. He said I wouldn't have been happy with it because it didn't cover the full stair edge and I'd have had a piece of the LVT on the edge as well.

I put the same flooring in our basement kitchenette, bathroom & fitness room. Now I'm waiting for the new carpet for the rest of the basement.
