I am trying to redo the family/media room downstairs- finished basement. Currently- everything is beige. It's not by design, just collateral damage from having a beige couch and moving into a house with cream walls, maple trim and beige carpet. I've tested at least a dozen paints and can't figure out what will work. I do know I need to fix the lighting. I only have overheads and a couple meager table lamps. Any suggestions for lighting are also welcomed. Ignore what wall art there is. I have better taste than what's displayed- I just haven't had the time to do this room, until now.

Beyond that, this room will be used for tv watching, playing records, etc. Almost more of a media room. I am not a fan of golds, oranges and reds. The one wall leading to the downstairs is Benjamin Moore, Baltic Gray. I considered using that color, but it turns purple without natural sunlight. I am not afraid to go darker, if anyone thinks that would be the way to go. I love Farrow and Ball's Hague Blue and Benjamin Moore's Nightfall. However, I'm afraid those colors would turn black. Thoughts?
