I really like the gold and black ones. I 2qs thinking of doing two black tall side by side dressers instead...to fill up the space. Of course with those black and gold knobs. What do you think. Also what do you think of this bench?

I like the style, but your keen eye is correct, it looks a bit too almost chartreuse not true yellow. I think you need the true yellow. You might have to have it made to get the true yellow.

Behind the headboard, I was thinking black drapes with some ivory in them somehow.

Definitely switch out the rug to something with a little gold, texture or pattern in it. I would also carry the gold element that you have in the lamps to the blank wall to the left of he bed to bring it around the room. The arch window over the bed draws the eye in, maybe think of a way to treat that as well.

That bench is too traditional in style for your chic, modern look, but don't give up. I will look around too.

This is gold not yellow but might be worth looking at. I like the modern styling with the acrylic legs.

My 25-year-old condo has the original alarm system which has not been in use for years. How do I remove this from my home is it enough to just take the panel off the wall? Any suggestions?

@Flo...ok so its the arm rolls on the one that I posted that concerns you? I will search for one without them. Do you suggest I change the rug if I add the gold/yellow bench...like the others have noted?

Yes, the arm rolls are very traditional look. the more flat bench would work better in your more modern space. Going to be really beautiful though!!

new bedding, the white comforter that you have ruins the look

What a nicely dramatic room! I like the idea of the curtains behind the bed, but they need a bit of tweaking. Not sure if they are wrinkled, if they need to be hung differently, or if the bed just needs to be pulled out another inch. What do you think?

They need to be pressed..they are wrinkled.

I think once I get them pressed they will hang better.

Love the bench! Perfect. Do you love it. I think the gold touches are great! Not so in love with drapery. What about black velvet. The white takes away your drama i believe. I think Bed Bath and Beyound has them. I will shop a bit for you if you are open to changing the drapery?

Flo Im open to changing it. I hung a black velvet throw on the window just to see what it would look like and it made my walls look gray. Im still open...I trust your eye. what do you think about the comforter...some are suggesting I change it. It doesnt bother me but I do want the best look possible.

If your looking for photographs, Ansel Adams had an amazing collection of b/w nature photos. I like the color scheme. However, I would add something in a light purple/lilac and silver accents.

What about a silvery gray with a bit of sheen for the wall drapery? I think it would tie in well with the adjacent mirrors and would be in keeping with the glam feeling of the room. With that thought, I agree that the white comforter should be replaced... Too casual for this room. I am in love with that bench!

Bt you are the second person who mentioned purple/lilac. Do you have a pic... Im havint a difficult time seeing the vision you are seeing.

I love everything you've done so far. My one recommendation would be to paint the chair rail back to white, so it matches all the other trim, and pops against the black. I would also add some applied molding the the walls, again on white to add that pop while keeping it classic. Here's an example of what I mean.

I would also remove the curtains on the headboard wall. I believe Genavive had suggested doing a curved white frame around your demi-lune window above your headboard, which is a great suggestion. Good luck, and everything looks spectacular!! keep up the great work. Super dramatic!!!

love Beth H's comments and photos...the black is great for the background...now you need to add the other elements to make things pop...texture and colour...otherwise the room lacks personality and is too drab. Great art will help and not only art that is matchy matchy...but pieces that tie in but have drama and connection. I definitely do not like the white curtains...they look very odd and personally I would try to work with that window rather than trying to camouflage it. I would also position the rug on an angle coming out from the bed rather than having everything line up as it does.

IMO if you're going to do the black curtains I hope you add it to the curtains you already have or get sheer jewel tones

Love it! I would remove the pillows from the bench so the full color of the bench shines. I like the mix of textures you hae now as well, the animal rug under the bench, the velvet drapery, the smoother gold pillows, the shiney gold lamps and I like the black bed shall over the bottom on the white duvet. Perfect. I'll bet at night this is spectacular! Did you ever find some new hardware for the dresser. If you ever decide to replace the dresser a mirrored one would be sweet!!

I did order those gorgeous knobs but wanted a larger dresser so i haven't used them. Ive sorta got another dilemna...the room has three large windows which we are going to have electric shades installed to completely black out the room when necessary but I need some type of window treatment as well dont you think? Should I add more velvet?

I would like a large wall hanging on the wall and across from where the person on the left side of bed gets out, a large white matted picture in a black frame. Very simple but it would be a nice touch on that wall keeping the black and white going, but brightening up the wall a little bit.

The black velvet is better, but I still think it's needs a touch of pattern to it, maybe ivory and black together.

You should scream!!! You have done an amazing job! I would keep your large window treatment very simple. You want the bed and that wall to stay "focal" point.

I like the combination of gold and mirrors. All mirrored might look a little too Vegas and you might loose the "classy" chic look you have created. Lots of options for that piece. Those windows are in the front of your house right? That means you will need white lined drapery so it looks right from outside. Perhaps just a black faux silk would work. Simple, clean lines. I thought about a print or wide stripe, but I think that would steal the show. Plan silk in black with white lining seems the best choice. Make sure you get enough panels for a full look. We usually do 2-1/2 the width of the windows so you will need a lot! Alternatively, maybe just do two panels on each end, and get a series of Roman Shades line white backing lining for the windows. It is a tough set of windows. It also won't appeal to a wide range of buyers if you think you will be selling in the next say 5 years. Mostly, I say do what you feel good with now (live for today thinking) but when you will be spending a good bit of money, I get a little queasy. If you can get ready made black lined drapes, that is probably best deal.

Bring the tv down toward the dresser...it's looks too high. If you watch tv sitting up in bed, bring it down to center at eye level. Add some light-colored art and maybe another lamp.
