From the Insect section report:

"The Elkinton Lab reports as of 7/12/17, with the exception of one of their research sites in Amherst, Massachusetts that had only seen 44% mortality of gypsy moth caterpillars this season, 98%+ of their sampled caterpillars in 5/10 study sites had perished. The remaining study locations had 87% and 95%+ caterpillar mortality, overall."

That gypsy moth news is GOOD NEWS! We just noticed this fall that a maple at the office that is huge and has bronze/red foliage all summer long (I have no idea what variety it is, bit it appears to NOT be a Japanese Maple) is covered in nothings but skeleton leaves. Other maples around the office are affected, as well. I don't know how long this has happened, but we certainly don't need it to continue and eventually kill the tree. We have to research when and how to start treatment. I'll look up the Elkinton Lab information.
