This light coupled with your kitchen pendants and nook really put this light to shame. You might want to add a complimentary light vs. the one posted unless you want to transition that room intended for this light to a more rustic look as well as the sconces. With darker floors and the lighting you selected for the kitchen area. I'd stick with complimentary lighting for the chandelier and foyer.

Do you have any favorite dining chandeliers to recommend? I would like to mix finishes and sort of give everything a cottage/ farmhouse glam look.

All the lighting in model home appear to be hung way too high. So make sure you have posts long enough and wire and chain. It looks like the ceiling in the dining area is slanted so this will require a chain hanging chandelier not a post type. I will post some lighting combinations for you when I get to my desktop. Bbl.

Great, Flo! Thank you! And yes I agree. We get to walk the electrician through what height we want our chandeliers hung, so I get to fix that problem :). Here's photos of the outside and layout for the first floor so you can see how it all goes together. Outside will be SW gauntlet grey. Front door will be stained to match natural cedar shakes and porch.

First the Dining Room chandelier is not large enough for the area.

19" in diameter is just not large enough. 24 -30" would be better.

@Beverly, the silver chandelier I have posted is actually for the dining nook -- I'll post a photo of that. The dining room chandelier was going to be the wood rustic one but that may change and foyer chandelier is completely undecided. Here's the dining nook in the model home. The chandelier they have is a 17 inch diameter if that helps for comparison. And is where I'm planning on doing the polished nickel ball.

I would coordinate the entry and dining room chandelier because you see them both from the entry and living room I believe. I don't particularly think the wood and dark metal are best, but they may be of budget concern? Not sure. Assuming you will have some budget I would do something much larger for your entry since it is two story ceiling. I will post some examples for you.

That has greater height and visual weight while not being too heavy.

The chandelier for the dining room has to get hung to so it is approximately 30-33" above your dining room table height. So that would typically mean 60-63" above the floor to the bottom of the fixture. Make sure the electricians leave enough wire and chain to lower if need be. If they cut it too short, you can't lengthen it. I don't think you want to be "matchy-matchy" for the entry and the dining area, but some elements of each fixture work together. The kitchen and eating area are in completely different areas so they can go more toward the brushed nickel if you wish.

The ourges has a lighter wood tone like the entry one I posted, but darker metal. It is the orbital shape but without being metal. This size might be too small as pointed out above. However, I'm trying to give you options and concepts. I don't know the size and shape of your dining room table?? That is important as well.

What type wood is your dining room table going to be?? Hard to select fixtures without a bit more information. Even with dark floors, you don't want the lighting to be too dark, I would look for woods that are more medium or even lighter depending on your woods in the dining room and living room? Loads of great fixtures out there. What is your budget limits so we can try to make suggestions that make sense budgetwise?

Thank you so much for the suggestions! So, per our contract our budget from the builder is just over 2000 for everything, and we're supposed to be sticking to one vendor. I'm doing as much as I can get away with through lowes, that silver nook ball and pendants and bedroom and bathrooms lights, but am going to order the dining room and entry way chandelier. I'm in Alaska so ordering is tricky, but wayfair, overstock, and houzz I've seen have some shipping options and there's a lighting shop locally I can use. I don't have a budget for the dining and entry way chandelier, sort of a I'll pay the right price for the right option, lol. The light I posted for above the nook is the only 'I'm in love with this' piece I have, so I'm trying to build it from there. For our dining room table, we don't have one! So that's up in the air until we finish the build and buy one. Which makes selecting things easier in terms of freedom but harder in terms of not being able to narrow things down. I'm dying in light hell. Dying.

Do you have a dining room table yet? If so, what size is the top? width and length. What color is the wood/or finish? That might be the key driver of decisions here for lighting. At least in entry and dining room.

Here is a nice "transitional" fixture with medium color wood and bronze metal. it is 32" high (which is great for your ceiling height) and 30" wide. If your table is 40" wide that would work well. If it is less wide then we would have to see.

So this has a candle look, but with a sleeker wood lines to the design, making it a modern style with a nod to traditional candle chandelier. I loaded it into the ideabook "Alaska House Ideas." It is $652.00 so with an additional 5% off it would come in around $620. Now let me find an entry that would work with this one. I think I have one. bbl.

This is lighter wood, but kind of harkens to the other fixture.

Here is another one for $329 minus discount would be roughly $313. It is 26w x 29.5h, so depending on size of table this could be a contender. There is only one of these left though! This one would go nicely with the entry one as well.

Those all have a modern/rustic quality to them and I think they would also blend with your other metals because of the lighter woods. But door knobs don't have to match fixtures. They are kind of in a separate category. And we mix metals, you just have to do it carefully.

If you want a darker wood and metal for the entry, here is one you might like better, not sure what your railing/stair system is going to be?

No lighter than the first and no darker than the second. Upholstered chairs. I don't like it quite as rustic as the first, would do chairs that are a bit dressier and something with a little more character in the body like the second.
