It looks fine. I have no idea why he "buried" the bevel. Perhaps has never installed a bevel tile.

So I shall say once AGAIN:

State your desired look and layout, DRAW it on a piece of paper and post prominently

Most tiles will specify a grout spacing, if yours did......was it shown to the installer?

Discuss all with the installer before he proceeds, or with the contractor who hired his sub

Draw a picture, discuss or ask for sample of grout line with a half dozen tiles if necessary.

When you leave it to assumptions, assume you will also accept the outcome and result of the un directed worker bee: )

Thx for the comments. The tile is a beveled marble on sheets with preset grout joints. My contractor had the same tilesetter work throughout my house. We've worked on all the rooms together, and I've been pleased with the results. This is just one that I didn't know I had to instruct where the grout should go -- my oversight.

It's not too late for likes and dislikes. My contractor has said they will cut it out and redo it if that's my decision. I am evaluating whether I can forget what it was supposed to be, and live with what it is. :)

You should not have to tell an installer who has been given preset sheets how far to space, thats a given. With that said, I think it looks great BUT in lieu of ripping out and reinstalling I would be asking for a partial refund. While I do think it looks great (yes I agree with your husband, bricks) the question is does it look as good as the beveled look you were after. I would not throw the dice and redo, get a partial refund.

I think it looks nice and especially since this is the laundry room I personally could live with it even if not finished the way you envisioned.

I'd leave it as is, not worth the hassle ( for me anyway) of redoing, after all it's a laundry room which I assume is not a focal point in your house. It looks fine.

Ok, so it's just a laundry room, but you probably invested time, thought and money to get it just right. My idea: before the grout Is fully cured,, have them chisel out a small area, perhaps on the window side, to see how that looks. If it is much more to your liking, then request a re-do. If not, regrout.

I would have also thought that the tile setter understood that, with beveled tile, the bevel should be visible. Otherwise, what's the point in paying extra for the upgrade?Good luck, and let us know what you decide.

Thx so much for all the input! Glad to hear it doesn't look ridiculous. My laundry room is a simple room. I only did this marble because I got some sheets leftover from a friend's renovation; otherwise, a simple subway was my choice. I'm leaning towards getting an allowance for leaving it in place. Frankly, I'm so so tired. I'm winding down a major remodel of kitchen and all baths. I don't want any more dust created and strangers walking about my house. I don't want to risk damage to the quartz countertops, the electrical or anything else behind that wall (kitchen sits on the other side). Thx again!

@lwfromny - I appreciate the insight from someone who knows how I'm feeling these days! Decision fatigue is real. I'm trying hard to prioritize the important items. I always enjoy seeing photos of your beautiful kitchen! One day, I will enjoy my space too!

@hummingalong2 - There is a difference. The beveled is more elegant, with a slightly traditional feel to it. And maybe that's not the most appropriate choice for a space where the other finishes are grey rectified porcelain floor, white slab cabinet doors, and white quartz countertops? Ha. Maybe this is a blessing. :)

It sounds like you have made your decision, now you can move on and give youself a break, or on to the next project. I'm sure it will all be beautiful!
