I used their network of websites quite a bit during construction but it was 5 years ago: Faucet.com, Lightingdirect.com and Pullsdirect.com. Particularly loved the way you can narrow your search parameters. I couldn't find what we needed in the local home improvement stores so it was great to have another design resource. Of course "returning" large items would be very costly so make sure you choose the right size etc. The only problem I had was one box was delivered by UPS and I was at the site, not home. Someone stole the box off our condo step!

I think it's a great site for searching, but the return policies are restrictive, and return shipping can get expensive. I generally print out my shopping cart and take it to Lowe's or Home Depot and ask them to price match, and they always do, even if it is an item not shown on their website. This generally gives me a 90 day return period instead of a 30 day, and on remodels, you just never know if you're going to get that one particular item installed within 30 days because so many things can go wrong. On high-end fixtures, I take the list to my local appliance dealer or plumbing supply house and ask the same. In general my local plumbing supply house is cheaper anyway.

I've ordered odds and ends from them and haven't had issues.

I have ordered a number of things from them and have had nothing but positive experiences. I recently bought a Bosch dishwasher and a cooktop from Build, however when the order arrived, the freight company only had the cooktop. Somewhere, I had a dishwasher floating around without a home. I called the freight company, and Build immediately. after trying to trace the package for over a week, Build sent out another dishwasher. They were extremely responsive and extraordinarily helpful. I wasn't on a tight time frame, since my renovation was still in progress, but I appreciate their customer service. I would highly recommend them for anything you might need.

I used build.com to order a lot of items for our renovation and had no problems. However, I also didn't need to return anything.

I have had very good experiences with Build.com. Their customer service is top notch and their prices are usually lower than I can find elsewhere. I use them quite a bit in our business.

In the past my experience was positive. But lately, in finishing up a third bathroom renovation they have shipped damaged merchandise, wrong colors, defective merchandise and items that were previously returned (mismatched box with item as well as orders with missing parts). It has resulted in additional plumbing charges.

I accidentally ordered the wrong kitchen faucet and through their "chat" option was immediately emailed a return label. I dropped the box off at the UPS pickup store and had no problem! I look forward to doing more business with Build.com.

I used them for most of our new build until I had to return a set of lights and it cost $$$$$. So take other's advice and don't buy anything where you might return it. I knew the tone of gold might be wrong, and it was. But I figured with free delivery and no tax (how do they get away with that?) the return charges would be reasonable. $70 later I'm done with build.com. But really, it's my own fault for not understanding their return policy before I ordered something I wasn't sure of.

The times we've used it for small items its been great.
