Remodeling Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Round windowless bathroom

Hi,

I am looking for design ideas for this round windowless guest bath. I want to replace the shower with a soaking tub, replace the the toilet, vanity, and the floor tile and remove the wall tile, but I don't know how to make the space not feel like a short dark and ugly cave. I like bold and dramatic. One idea is to embrace the dark and have a mural like this: http://pin.it/-tWn23V. Other ideas? Paint tricks? Lighting?

I would suggest lighter, brighter or bolder colors, airy furniture and good lighting. A few ideas: https://www.houzz.com/photos/contemporary-home-design-contemporary-bathroom-new-york-phvw-vp~82740 or https://www.houzz.com/photos/bathroom-contemporary-bathroom-phvw-vp~90763 or https://www.houzz.com/photos/modern-bathroom-modern-bathroom-phoenix-phvw-vp~52981573

A lit mirror may be nice in a "cave" bathroom: https://www.houzz.com/photos/luxury-beach-condo-contemporary-bathroom-los-angeles-phvw-vp~7918723

A scaled layout of the space would help. Possibly posted in Bathrooms.

Most guests won't want to take a bath, so I'm not sure that's a great idea if this is really for others. Maybe a sleeker shower with a frameless enclosure to open the space a bit.

This room doesn't look dark to me, but I'm sure lighter finishes and maybe adding an overhead light would help even more. Right now the wall color clashes with the tile, which may be heightening your dislike for the space...
