Thanks you celerygirl. I love this photo shopped image. The tables look darker like a distressed wood which allows the lamps to put. I wasn't a fan of the round ottoman due to symmetry but now seeing it with a square tray on top, I understand and like it. Everything in the room now has balance. I also like the two large pieces of artwork.

I spent yesterday hunting for artwork but I didn't find anything.

Once you get the room together there might be more ideas on what to do to hide the grate. You can possibly, add a sofa table that has some width to it, and accessorize it beautifully.

Update.
Rug has arrived. I also purchased two medium sized plants and 2 pillows. I plan on adding more pillows as I find them.

I think maybe I can use nesting tables to use as plant holders to give the plants the illusion of height in a staggering effect.

Yes I know the drapes need to be changed but I am clueless so I won't even tackle that project yet.

For at least one purpose, would a table look good behind sofa? Lamp, and to fill rug area...

Are you going to buy a chair? Plants ok, and small... are you planning art?

I plan on buying a console table to go in my entry way but I was thinking more of a chrome and glass or mirrored console table but I love love that blue lacquer I just don't know if I can do it. It maybe too much of a stand out piece and I think finding a wall mirror to stand up with it maybe hard. I wanted to put a touch of glam on the console table.

To fill in next to the rug I plan on buying an end table, and placing a nice statement lamp on top.

Now I have had time to study the picture. I can see I can't use a nesting table for my plants because it would be too many tables. Perhaps I can use planters similarl to these.

Everdebz I am planning on buying art, I just haven't found a nice pierce yet. I know the plants are small but the large versions are $300 so small plants it is.

A table can't go behind the sofa there will not be enough space for my kids to race lol

I havent thought of purchasing a chair yet. I don't want the room becoming too clustered. I want a nice airy, minamilst feel.

You have mentioned several times that you only want chrome/silver items. You can mix metal!!!:) It is a great way to add visual interest and depth. Also a way to make the pieces in your home look like they have been collected over the years...instead of just bought at HomeGoods yesterday. You don't have to go overboard but little touches here and there can really make a difference...

Nope, I would not consider those lamps - statement(wow) lamps.

Near the small grate on the left I will add a end table. As for the larger grate on the right I am not sure about a console table. I may just have to settle for a floor lamp and looking at the ugly grate.

My husband isn't as enthused about the painting as I am, so I haven't ordered it yet. Key word yet. I am willing to let him look around and try and try to find something first.

The kitchen can be viewed from the living room. I love my floor but I don't think anymore attention needs to be paid to them because they stand out all on their own.

The lamps do appear to be the same color as the sofa. I am not sure why my lighting is off. I may have to have my husband check the overhead lighting. Everything looks cream including the walls yet I know I purchased light grays.

No global look in the living room, while I may like it eventually little things would start to irk me. I know it's boring but I like staying in a theme. I think the coffee table can wait since I am still not sure if I want one. I know they are needed to place drinks on but I hate having to walk around them plus I can see a kid saying "Mommy see" only to have a leg go crashing into the coffee table and scattering whatever was placed on top.

Yeh, if no table then a bit of pattern in rug was nice.

I have similar concern here - I use nice-looking plastic trays a lot. Spills go in the tray.
