I think you are right. Now my search begins. I thought I was done with buying hostas for the year!

Is this a hosta that places like Home Depot or Lowe's might carry, or is my best bet a garden centre?

Paradigm is a medium to large hosta, if this one is only 10-12 inches tall, it's not Paradigm. Could be Rainforest Sunrise.

Big box stores are not recommended as a source for hostas, their plants are too often virused. Try a hosta specialist, there are several threads on this forum with vendor recommendations.

Got to agree with Ken, that's a good idea. While you are there, you can check out their forums and get excellent information on Hosta Virus X, or HVX, which is very prevalent with big box stores.

I wish I could order from them but I have not found one U.S. garden centre that will ship plants to Canada. If any of you know a place that will ship outside of the U.S., please let me know. We really have limited hosta centres around here.

We have quite a few Canadians on this forum. You might email josephines167, peren.all, or zkathy and ask where they order. Or start a new thread asking for reputable hosta nurseries in Canada.

a hosta forum frequented mostly by Americans that there are few hosta growers
in Canada. There are many fine growers and the link I
have added is for the Ontario Hosta Society, which includes a number of fine
hosta nurseries on its website. You can have a lot of fun visiting these nurseries.

Back injury + getting older = time to downsize

That is sad mikgag. Hope your back injury can be repaired and improved? And when you're feeling better, you can buy some new hosta? I think from previous hosta forum pictures, you're not that old?

I'll be dropping down from 420 hostas to about 200 for now, my injury is chronic and I'm only 48. Last time it went out I couldn't walk. Not fun. Need to bring it down to a manageable level.

Nothing worse than a chronic ailment and I hope it isn't as bad as last time. Not being able to walk is the worst thing - especially to an active gardener. You are too young to have chronic anything and you have my sympathy. Take care, Mikgag.....enjoy what you can - 200 is still a whole lot of hosta to have to manage! If I pared down 200 hosta, I'd have nothing left!!! ;-)
