This belongs on one like Name That Plant, of course.

And it's not a shrub, either. Valerian is the common name usually given to the perennial Centranthus ruber, which this is not.

Looks like Garden Heliotrope, AKA Valeriana officinalis. A native of Europe and becoming weedy in some places.

I have that same issue with a white flowering cercis. Somehow a white redbud just doesn't sound right :-))

Yes me too! And I feel like an idiot when someone asks what it is and I say 'it's a redbud' and they look at me like I'm nuts.
