Does Nam Doc Mai need more water than other mango varieties?

I have a Glenn mango (around 6 years old) that fruits like clockwork and the only time I watered it was during heavy drought.

I followed the same plan with my new Nam Doc Mai (2-3 years old) but over this past winter loads of the leaves turned brown or partially brown. It is now growing plenty of new leaves, but I was wondering if I should treat it differently than the Glenn and water it once a week this coming winter. (being in FL, we are getting plenty of rain now, but it generally stops raining so much once we get to October or so)

Thoughts?

Are they in pots or in the ground? Mine are in the ground and don't show any significant difference to others as far as water goes (or lack thereof).

I'd suspect there were other issues involved. Seasonally mine go through 4 to 5 months of hot weather with no rain or watering. They'd probably like some water during that time but they don't show any significant adverse effects. They also flower during that dry period.

I don't think.....may be the rootstock could make a differences, but I think really small..
