We are having a new house built and our builder just framed the basement. My husband and I were surprised to see that the spare room was framed smaller than we had wanted. The problem is that there is a supporting post in the room and what the builder did was made the room smaller so that the post is now in the wall. So, we now have a smaller spare room with a huge walk in closet. Is there any other solution that we can do to keep the original size of the room rather than making it smaller because of the post? I have a drawing of what the room should be and one with the room smaller. I could use some help with this. We will be meeting with the builder this week. Thanks.
