Hello sosweetsally -- What a wonderful fireplace. I think we need to know what you love about what you have, since I'm struggling to find a way it will all work together. While your bed, bedding, mirror and furnishings are "sosweet," they seem a little out of place with the handsome hearth. Are you (and whoever you might share this space with) open to exploring more of the handsome side of this space, perhaps finding another home for some of this room's current furnishings?

I'm so intrigued by the potential of your space, I'm going to come up with a quick idea board; stay tuned, as I'm having constant interruptions today. (One of which is my 80lb Leonberger puppy {;o)

...Normally I wouldn't post a very intermediate idea board, where I've neutralized the space to virtually stand back and assess the injection of color, etc. I think I know where I want to take it from this step, but the rest of my day is calling (and puppies need to go out.) Will add some life and color back in later...

And there's my dilemma. I like the 'handsome' rustic but want to soften the bedroom a little. The entire home has SO much wood and feels so brown. I'm open to changing up some of the furnishings but really love the bed. I know there's an answer for it! Looking forward to your ideas.

Try a green blue like SW or BM Sea Salt

There is definitely a little identity crisis in this room...it feel like there are lots of neat things here...but they don't go together well as is...to bring things together a color theme may be the most effective...the first step in my mind to create continuity ....might be to paint the wood wall to match the other walls and to match the color of mirror frame and mantle to the wood color of the bed...if your aim is to avoid the dark feel... and to feature the bed you love ...try adding simple bedding that goes with the wall color you choose...these changes will neutralize the feel that things don't go together in this room...while still maintaining the eclectic feel and specialness of the interesting elements...

The bed is a unique piece that fits. Barnhart Gallery has shown you a few ways to lighten up the bedding- gives the room lightness, instantly, without losing rustic feel. I also love the rugs. I may snag one of those ideas for my next project- master bedroom.

If there were two things I'd consider, if I were you, it would be replacing the side tables and mirror above the fireplace. Cool mirror, just doesn't seem to "play that well" with the paneling/fireplace, itself. Did I mention that I love the fireplace? Lucky you!

Side tables put a lot of visual "weight" in the room. Is it possible to find something that keeps the rustic vibe, but with legs? Simple, rustic, but would provide some "airspace".

Add some fluffy white bedding and pillows and pick an accent color.
