I think the rug works magnificently. Granted, it's very much the star of the room, but that doesn't mean it throws anything out of balance. My only other thought is that the coffee table is a bit too narrow, although I like it very much -- the way the glass reflects the window light is great. Beautiful room. Enjoy it.

Gorgeous rug! If you don't want it, I'll take it! And I like the art with it, too--the colors are perfect. My suggestion is that you live with it for awhile--new things always feel out of place until you get used to them.

Actually, Matt, I WOULD like to know where you found that rug. The colors would be perfect in my dining room. Do you mind sharing where it came from? Also, you might consider some creamy colored pillows on the brown sofa. JMHO...

Nice size rug!

Nice colors that work with the art, but it is a little too large. Have you tried centering it with the windows? You're right to have the leggy chair entirely on it, but the cabinet on the right needs to be off it completely. The gray sofa seems to have all but its back legs on it and the darker sofa just barely has its front legs on it. The sofas should both sit on the rug the same way if possible. Ideally with just 1/3-1/2 of the sofa on the rug Perhaps centering the rug with the windows will help you do that.

I agree with deco that you need to orient it a bit better and perhaps pull it more under the brown sofa. Beautiful rug and nice room.
