I recently moved to Wilmington, NC and was unprepared for the intense heat. We have a newly built home that has a ridge vent and insulation but the attic is still very hot. When I inquired about attic fans-which we use extensively in the North-I was told I could have either an attic fan or a ridge vent but not both. Is there something I can do to my attic retroactively to try and control the heat in this space? I need to use it for storage and I am afraid my things will be ruined over time. Plus there is the economic and eco consideration in that I don't want to have to run my AC extensively to cool the upstairs if there is a way to keep it cooler. Thanks!
