When I lived in Pleasant Hill I grew chard, kale and pak choi over the winter. I'm a bit warmer than you now in the foothills and have been debating starting seeds for them (and parsley) indoors as they won't want to sprout if it's 100°. I don't think I can direct seed, you might be able to.

Winter vegetables include: Asian greens (like bok choi), Asparagus, Artichoke, Beet, Broccoli, Collards, Garlic, Kale, Lettuce, Mustard, Onion, Potato, Radish, Rhubarb, Spinach, Swish Chard and Turnips. It might be a bit too early to sow seeds outside but as mentioned above you could start them inside right now and then transplant when the weather cools off in October.
