Processed pickle jars too long. Still good???

So I fell asleep on my couch somehow while boiling my pickle jars. My ten minute boil turned into about 5 hours haha. They all sealed and jars aren't broken or anything. Lots of info on the net about boiling too little but not much on boiling to long. Anyone know if the are still safe???

The quality will be poor, quite mushy.

As for safety it all depends on if the jars were still covered with water or not. Hard to imagine after 5 hours of boiling but if they were then yes, then they would be considered safe to consume.

If not, then no. Technically they would not be considered safe as the lids would have sealed and released several times during that long time and outside air and possibly water could have been sucked into the jars. Safe processing per the guidelines requires the jars remain covered by at least 1" of water at all times even if it means you have to add more.

Ultimately the choice is yours to make. You may find the decision is made for you once you open one of the jars and see the poor boiled quality.
