I had to look up Elizabeth Hartman. Her quilts are really different, but I like them. I don't think I have the patience for them right now though.

I'll work on DD's quilt and the scrappy one. Nothing really happening this weekend, so I should have plenty of time.

I am in the Minneapolis airport, waiting for our flight to Vancouver. One of DH's sisters lives here, so five of the six travelers have gone to try to meet up with her and her hubby. I volunteered to stay with all the carry on luggage. We just started this two week trip this morning and I'm already ready for some alone time. :). Sometimes it's hard being the introvert in a family of extroverts!

Our flight gets into Vancouver around 10 pm. We will all be ready for bed, I'm sure! Tomorrow we board the Star Princess and cruise north!

Have you ever been ready to start a new quilt but then get anxious about that first cut and so delay. I have all of the fabric I need to make DGGD's quilt. I have the pattern, one I have used before so no concerns there. And I know once started, I will sail along. I want it to turn out really well. I am thinking about making a test block today, refreshing my memory and making sure I am secure in the whole process.

Probably no sewing for me this weekend. I am buried in tomatoes right now. I went to the tomato farm to get a couple boxes to can...well the guy gave me 5 boxes for $5 each. So now I have 125 lbs of tomatoes to can! We love and use lots of tomatoes, so they will not go to waste. I also have to prepare my lesson plan for class on Monday night. I was not planning on teaching this semester, but they called and asked and I need to learn to say no. Oh well, the money can buy fabric :)

i remember my mom canning tomatoes every year. She had a huge garden and made lots of tomato juice.

Bev, unfortunately we don't get much time in Vancouver. This morning we take the hotel shuttle back to the airport to get the Princess shuttle to the ship, then sail this afternoon.

The flight was delayed out of Mpls about two hours so we didn't get into our hotel rooms until after 12:30 am local time, which felt to us like 3:30 FL time.

Theresa, sometimes I feel like that. It's almost like the anticipation is better than the actual project! I'm sure it will be lovely.

Lois, are you just north of the MN border? The scenery is beautiful! Years ago we went to Lake Itasca with the MN sister & BIL. Very different from FL!

Donna, we are literally at the border. We're on the Minnesota side of Lake Saganagaw. The Canadian side is just east of the Quetico Provincial Park. Gorgeous country.

Are you cruising the Alaska Coast? More incredible country, with whales too. Have a wonderful time There's a great quilt shop in Ketchikan.

Donna - if you have a stop in Skayway and Ketchikan, there are quilt shops!! Have a wonderful trip.

We dropped our exchange students off today for a week at our Lions camp in southern Colorado. Phew. They come back to us next Saturday then on the plane home on Sunday, the 20th. Now I have a week to get ready to get everything ready for a 2-1/2 week RV trip. DH is bicycling from Yellowstone to Glacier National Park with a friend. The women are driving the RVs and doing the cooking so the guys only have to ride. We hope to get to Casper, Wyoming on Monday, the 21st, in time to see the eclipse. I hope this week I can pull together some fabrics I need for an applique project (how I hate applique!) that I can take with me.

Haha, Sue! I found the shop in Skagway. I bought an adorable otter wall quilt kit and a cute t shirt with otters. :). I missed the one in Ketchikan.
