Backsplash or no?

I know that if I get a backsplash, I need to remove the 4 inch strip, but where would the backsplash stop? This is a very small town home, much different from where I was before, and I'm trying to insert personality if possible. Any opinions are greatly appreciated!

I don't think it needs a backsplash but if you decide to put one in.... end it at the end of the top cabinets. Then put a piece of art work or decor to the left of the cabinet.

Thank you. I figure for that small of an area, it probably won't make much of a difference.

A backsplash isn't necessary but I find they always make a room look more complete. The space is a little white so a nice blue/green glass subway tile would look really nice.

Put a panel of stainless from the stove top to the bottom of the nuke/fan. Do nothing else.

Could I bring the tile to the end of the counter at cabinet height and then put a painting or open shelves on top?
