Monstera help!

9 years ago

Hello everyone;

I am looking for advice in repotting this recently purchased monstera plant. It is currently in the original Nursery 10 inch plastic container and I believe there is little soil left as the aerial roots are coming out everywhere. Since I have brought it home there have been a few leaves which show yellowing and browning. I am hoping by repotting it into fresh soil it will be happier and stop yellowing.

My concern is, I am looking to move this monstera into a 12 inch tall black pot. (You can see this pot in my photo, it is currently holding a money tree plant.) The diameter would be only one step up, however it will obviously be much deeper than it is used to. Should I fill the bottom half with rocks? I am not concerned about the pot being too heavy as this monstera will always need the weighted stability.

Any other advice or comments are greatly appreciated!
