Kitchen Runner Rug

So I have finally made progress on my kitchen remodel and I am so jazzed with how its coming along! Final steps; Need to add base shoe moulding and Decorate! The fun part! I am obsessed with the idea of a runner rug(s?) in the kitchen, no matter how impractical it may be! I especially like the "vintage" looking rugs, mixed with modern appliances. There are SO many options out there and I really do value the opinions I get from individuals on this website. I have attached some sketches of my favorite runners I have found, #1 and #5 being my favorite. Thoughts???

Totally jealous, it's looking really nice! Stylistically, I would consider something a bit simpler like a dhurrie rug. However, I can tell you what I've done, which is make my own rug with Flor tiles. I can't tell you how much that saved me when I dropped an egg on the floor! Then you can just clean that one tile or throw it away if it's beyond saving! Question - what is in the white cabinet to the left of the refrigerator?

Number four isn't a runner, and might become a trip hazard. Go with an oriental design in an easy-to-care-for fibre. Use a good underpad as well. When a litre of olive oil fell on the runner in front of my sink area, I simple rolled it up and took it to the cleaner. It was back in four days looking as good as new.

Your Kitchen is lovely! I absolutely love #1 and #2. These are my top picks. I am also a big fan of runner rugs in the kitchen. A runner would not work in my space so I purchased one from ebay for my bathroom. It may sound odd, but it looks amazing!

Allison, that doesn't sound odd to me at all! I wish I had a large enough bathroom for a runner rug. What do you think of #5? Too pastel??

#5 is a beauty too, and it would definitely brighten your space. I have a tendency to gravitate towards deep, bold colors, which is why I chose 1 and 2.
