Need to figure out where to put floor plugs and what types are available. Are any of them still flat when something is plugged in?

no ! be careful ! I did a job with floor plugs for lighting etc - put then under the sofas - all was fine until they got new sofas with central legs - just in the wrong place for the plugs !!!

You can have plugs with a recessed box in the floor with a plate cover. When not in use the plate covers the floor (you can even have them covered in parquet) but there is a small metal frame. This works best with new builds
