The Breton tops have been getting a lot of low cost competition from the Chinese. I've heard lots of Asian bashing, but no documentation of any serious problems with non-Breton tops.

The issue with cheap imports is the quality of the raw materials and overall quality control

From an issue for staining, ease of maintenance I would stick with a Brenton product as they are usually better finished, a denser product and a better finish to the surface polish.

Though do be aware even between Stone Manufacturers using Brenton it comes down to the raw material inputs. how they run there polishing lines and what finish they are specifying on the end product.

Some are better than others. We would suggest that you look at all the majors.
