The front door is dark wood and the storm door is going to be replaced with a full length glass storm door. The porch railing, posts, pillars or columns on front of the house will be white.

yes black, black will anchor the look of the large tan and white house and really give it some definition.

Black would be my choice as long as the Tan is not a wimpy color.

Thank you Margaret, yes, I will definitely post before and after pics! The front porch used to be wrought iron and nothing on the porch above. We has a friend, who is an awesome carpenter, build the wooden posts and banisters. We knew it would make a difference in the way the house looked, but had no idea the difference! It's a very slow process though!

I feel black will be to harsh. The charcoal grey or slightly lighter than that would be better. I wouldn't do the steps that dark though. It will look more inviting if you did them lighter or a stone veneer.

Your friend is a fabulous carpenter, the porch is incredible. Smart move to remove the wrought iron, the transformation is absoletly fabulous.

I think u could also consider a brown as it may tie in better with your tan.

I would go with a darker version of the tan for the foundation, which will be hidden and blend in for the most part with the foundation planting. Black might actually accentuate the base. For the porch, I like a classic light gray and a light blue for the porch ceiling. I like the tone of the slats on the base of this house. This is a nice blue, too: This has a blue ceiling, whihc is barely visible, but I like the gray for the floor: Very pale gray concrete porch on a Greek revival home:

Jayme, I like your idea for brown on the foundation. I would then do the stairs in a 1/4 tone of the brown. That should all blend with the tan and white. That is if you use the right brown.

look at dapper tan not dan. it might be to light still but might work

We love our home! It's finally finished! We will get a new roof next year and landscaping.
