SW Repose Gray or On The Rocks

My head is spinning. I want a light and airy feel all over my newly built house but not a true white color. I have it narrowed down to SW Repose Gray and On The Rocks. Repose looks so much darker than I thought it would that it has me leaning towards On The Rocks. I don't want the wall color to pull any hue other than light gray. Can you talk me through what you know?

I ended up going with Eider white and I hated it!!!! I chose On The Rocks for upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. It’s very light but I like it and serves as a pretty neutral background. I decided it was a little lighter and kind of icy than I preferred for my main level.

After the Eider White nightmare (it looked very white in some places which I discovered I don’t like in real life and pinkish in several places which was so not ok) I chose Light French Gray for everywhere else and I love it!!!!! It is light but obviously gray and doesn’t seem to pull any obvious undertones in my space. I would say in retrospect I think I would have been just as happy with Repose Gray. What I learned is that you really need to see a whole wall done which isn’t so convenient I know... my repose sample looked so dark because of what I had around it. Primer white and other paint samples!

I saw a beautiful palest gray-white from another suggestion called SW Shoji White.

On the rocks will look like an icy white. It's very light, we had it in our family room and I was very happy with it. Grey but not in your face. White, but not stark.

I have repose gray throughout my house and it's a beautiful color but if light and airy is what you want I wouldn't go with it. Repose is somewhat light but definitely not a barely grey white it sounds like you're looking for. It's a very obvious medium light grey. On the rocks has the same lrv (light reflective value) as repose gray so it'd be similar in darkness.

Here is repose grey. Beautiful color and with my downstairs having low natural light it's the darkest grey I would go with. I had dorian grey before this color which is two shades darker on the color strip and it was way too dark, very drab and depressing.

Thank you!! I’m thinking I will do crushed ice in the bedrooms and bathrooms and repose in the main living area. Hopefully it looks okay! :)

@kim Kelly - did you end up deciding? I am between crushed ice and on the rocks. I recently saw a house painted in Eider White - and I definitely saw hints of pink in certain corners of the house. So I crossed that one off my list.

@Michelle Lord - not sure who you are asking, but we ended up with a discontinued SW Icy Avalanche and did our entire house in it. We love it! It’s very light and airy, has a grey/brown feel to it, but hardly any brown.

I crossed off crushed ice in the end because it leaned pink. And On the Rocks I still really liked but was a little darker of a grey
