I think the only sunny day was Monday for the eclipse. It's so overcast today that I could feel the mist on my morning walk.

It's been nice so far here in SoCal. I Am east of San Diego so it normally gets warmer out here than in the city. It's ramping up a bit next week into the 90's but I am glad we have not received any 100+ days that I can recall.

I see even the hot central valley up here..is just 80's. August could be one long 100f in Patterson where I have some family,in some years.

The bay area is ..lots of fog.

We got a couple weeks of relief but the heat will be back this weekend, unfortunately.

It seems to be an odd year up here, but then we've only been here going on 4 years now. We loved the first couple of Winters, then last Winter was about 100" of rain and much colder, frostier nights. Several salvias such as rhinosina, atrocyanea and even azurea died back this past Winter...and are returning, but only NOW. Summer has simply not warmed up and things that have returned won't have much of a chance to grow and toughen before facing another Winter. My hope is that we manage to have a mild Winter. Right now it looks and feels mostly like Nuclear Winter with fog and ash from the 100,000 acres burning just across into the Oregon border. I keep telling myself that we do still have September and October, but my mind is thinking Winter already

It has been lovely, especially walking early mornings. Nights have been pleasantly cool as well. But September can be brutally hot and even October. Let's face it, we can have heat in January!! But for the moment, it's been nice weather.

TV Weather guy says lower than normal. It's been in the 90's and low 100's. Electric bill is higher than last year but I think I just refuse to tolerate 80+ anymore. The little grass I have its interesting that its not partially brown. I don't see any plants suffering and the columbine in shade is still flowering. Its going to heat up starting sunday thru weds next week to 105.

It's been anything but cool for us in the southern Central Valley. We had a week of high 90s, then right back up to 105s and 106s.

Just wait, summer is coming.

Why does everything I like to grow like so much hotter then I can take? Like a curse!

I hear warmer here with low 80's. That's about perfect. The last week of August might bring us up to average.

We've been having June gloom through most of August. It's supposed to heat up this weekend.

May gray/June bloom arrived in August. (We did have clear skies on Aug 22 - day late and $$$ short.)

There was a period of monsoon weather, but I appreciate the cooler temperatures.

Yes! Summer is great for tropicals (as long as I can give them enough water).

I would bet that Hayward's warmest night ever might be 70f or about. And that had to have been over 20 years ago,maybe 30. I don't remember another summer low of 70f since.

Oh yeah? I had to suffer in 74f heat today! I survived.

Most areas of the bay are having record highs with the excessive heat waves we have been having. Supposed to get up to 115 over the next few days inland in the Bay Area and not be below 100 until next Wednesday. It's definitely not a cool August here.

We are having high 90s most of this week (except today) and low 100a this weekend. I am worried about leaving the potted plants unwatered while we are away next week! But yes, over all, except for the occasional heat waves, an overall cool summer! My tomato crop was a complete bust, ripped most out last week. Eggplants surprisingly are a bumper crop! The flowers seem happy for most part, though, so the garden does look lovely!

No doubt its going to get hot now. No sooner did I post we virtually never see lows as warm as 70? They call for 72f on Friday. My perfect timing..

Wasn't It wonderful? We had mornings of cool overcast coastal clouds and then gently warming up afternoons. Here's September and we're all sweating even into the night! Poor plants getting day after day of baking heat.
