Could you find a similar pattern in a high-grade vinyl? When the children get older, then you might wish to change it to marble.

We install plenty of marble bathrooms, including floors, BUT, there is more maintenance involved. For a children's bath, a porcelain floor tile would be a better choice. I would suggest that you ask your designer to source similar patterns and colors (if that is the look you want) in porcelain. Here's one example:

I agree that a porcelain tile might be more practical for a child's bath. Have you considered penny round or hex tile (with dark grout)? Marble, while quite classic and elegant, will require some regular maintenance and it can be a bit slippery for kiddos.

Your designer is clueless when it comes to children, esp. male children. (OH, the urine staining!) Put down a sheet vinyl floor and avoid heartache.

I f you want tile , why not cement tile in some awesome pattern IMO much better in a kids bathroom.

I agree with Patricia and Dragonfly. The tile being suggested to you is beautiful but is a horrid idea for a kids bath. There's lots of other awesome and more practical options for black and white tile.

I'd go with porcelain too. Easy maintenance, tough, and you can find versions with a low skid factor, perfect for bathrooms.

I did use this marble flooring. It was beautiful but the trades didn’t protect it and now I am comparing the new pieces with the floor and feel they ruined my beautiful new floor. I don’t allow shoes in the house. They would have stayed clean if 20 men with mud on their shoes were walking all over them. I am at the finishing stage of a 9 month remodel and now I feel like they ruined them! need to figure something out. Any suggestions on brining them back to life? They also cracked a couple with some hairline fractures. But I did love the look. Just want them to look fresh like they did when they first installed.

We had a marble floor in the guest bath in our last home. It didn't take long to realize it was an expensive mistake. It was high maintenance but beautiful.

It needs to be removed completely and buy something porcelain. Something not so disorienting and not so Lynchian.
