Kitchen placement

I'm in the design stage of a new house. I don't know if the current kitchen design is correct.

I don't want the stove on the island and I dont know if the current setup is correct. Ideally I want the window centered with the island but then I dont know if there is anywhere to place the stove. Can someone tell me if this looks like the correct design or should something be moved around?

Did you tell your architect that you don't want the stove on the island?

Is there a reason why the stove and sink/dishwasher can't swap spots?

Although, you'll have a stove out a bit further if you want the window and sink perfectly centered with the island.

I think the window could be placed anywhere in the stage of design so why not center it on the island, then the sink under the window and the stove on the left. IMO a walkin pantry that is really not connected to the kitchen is a bad idea, in fact I do like walk in pantries I think pullout ones in a wall with the fridge are a much better idea. Why not get a kitchen designer to help make this a really great space . I hate to tell you but most architects are very poor kitchen designers.

I presume you don't have an architect or kitchen designer. I would consider how you cook (do you) or is it your other half? How often is the kitchen used, do you have kids? Think about the flow which is crucial . The plan looks fine overall but this isn't about me or any of the people who are weighing in. This is about you and your home. It is crucial to consider YOUR actual needs. Good luck with the project, I hope it turns out to be everything you want and more!

I personally like the layout as it is, and prefer the stove closer to the fridge (I also wouldn't have a prep sink, if the sink is that close), BUT it's your kitchen and not mine. If you really want the sink and window centered on the island, then do it. All that matters ultimately is you are happy with the end product. You could swap the location, but not center the sink exactly with the island:

HI -- The island should end up in the proper location according to the measurements of the kitchen . It does not need to line up or centered to a window . An Architect drawn kitchen or the kitchen plan that came with the house plan is not always the best layout . Architects are not kitchen designers ! I do not like the location of the fridge as shown ... I don't think there needs to be that L corner where the fridge is . If the fridge was located on the straight run of cabinets with the sink and stove , then you could have a bigger island , then maybe it will look more balanced for you . Hire a certified kitchen designer for a proper /better plan .

I'd place the prep sink near the cooktop and fridge.
