Thanks! My basement floor is tiled where the drain is, so I thought this solution could work well for a couple of weeks until the new tub is installed :) Seems like it would be a pretty straightforward solution that would be more convenient than running to a sibling's house in the city just to take a shower each day!

Yeah, I've thought about adding a shower in my basement bathroom first, but that's a reasonably big undertaking and my priority is redoing my upstairs bathroom and adding a master ensuite. Once I have a master ensuite, I wouldn't really need a shower in my basement.

Sure. Or even easier, put it outside so you don't have to worry about the drain.

I can't put it outside because the construction is likely to begin in February, which is freezing cold in Canada :P
