Living Room Design. Help!

We are updating our family room to a transitional style. Painting, floors, furniture, etc. Anyhow, would you do two couches as pictured or a sectional? Having a difficult time deciding. Thanks everyone :)

Love sectionals, though they can be a pain if you want to rearrange room. They are great for stretching out on and cuddles with the kids lol

Measurement of room?

But right now I am thinking sectional. Looking at photo #1: a left arm facing chaise/sectional may work.

Yes, a small sectional like JudyG Designs has posted will work. But none of those giant sectionals!

I would go sectional. make sure to measure and leave room between side tables and walls. you could opt for one with a right chaise or choose a patterned accent chair diagonal to sectional.

Two sofas and a chair or two give you much more flexibility in arranging furniture. Parts of a sectional can be used separately but they don't look right and don't have arms for comfortable sitting.

I personally prefer two sofas since I like the freedom to change a room around. If you don't mind a set floor plan then a sectional will work fine. I would just make sure to shop until you find the perfect dimensions for your space. I would check out Interiordefine.com, which have gorgeous options for sectionals. I am very picky when it comes to sectionals since I am not their biggest fan, however, their selection may persuade me otherwise. Plus, their style lends itself well to the "transitional" style you are wanting.
