Sweet Potato Peek

I have had some really bad experiences with scurf and mouse/vole damage on sweet potatoes in recent years. This year I pulled out most of the stops. I again made a high ridge again ...to keep things drier. I installed a new 6 mil black plastic cover... to keep things drier. I have a small hole of 1¼ inch ...to keep things drier. I ordered from different vendors... to perhaps keep things more disease free.

I took a peek at the hill on the end today and was pleased with what I saw..it was dry under there and had a very large root that was clear from scurf. I am hopping that this is indicative of the rest. I think that the supplemental roots on the vines supply some water for the main plant. I only have 5 feet wide plastic.

I saw a garter snake a while back in the vines and with the stems about sealing the small openings, I am looking for little if any mouse/vole damage.
