Foyer Chandelier: Ugh....I can't decide

Hi All,

I am so awful at making decisions and could really use some ideas for a new light/chandelier in our Foyer (stairs going down to the basement). I would really like to keep it under $300.

I like a sputnik but not sure it would go. This one from West Elm seems cool, but not sure it would really go with the place.

We aren't changing the dinning room chandelier, it's new. Funny how the picture makes it look so small...it really doesn't seem that small. Also, it's not that far off the table, pic is just distorting it.

Since they are within the same visual space, I think I'd find a fixture that coordinates with your new dining fixture. The sputnik style in same black/bronze finish with Edison type bulbs would look good.

I would just put a pot light over the stairs to make it disappear.

Thanks everyone, I didn't think a sputnik would look right but now that you mention one with an edison and same finish....kind of seems like a no brainer.

Never thought about the pot light...might be worth scoping out.

Thanks again....it's so nice and helpful to have some ideas.

It's an industrial dining chandelier you have, so I wouldn't go with a something too MidMo. Remember your focal point here should probably be dining room, not the stairwell. You need a black industrial minimal pendant.

Speaking of focal point, I like the pop of color over the dining table, but I think it should be ironed and framed in a minimal black frame rather than tacked to the wall. I'd love to see a vase and some sparse branches adorning the table too.

well noted, Cara. I got the tapestry in Mongolia. It's from an area in the Western part of the country (Kazakh influence) and they use it for decoration in their yurts and wedding gifts. It's temporary to cover up a huge grey wall. I never thought about framing it....what a great idea.
