I think that door would look very nice with slate or brick. I wouldn't concern yourself with the partnering/neighboring house. I would do what u like. If you own your house then you need to think of the resale value, what will look best & what is modern. If you have the money to reface with slate would. You may just inspire your neighbors to update theirs ;)

Also, I agree with above, if u update your blinds, that alone will help the appearance :)

I'd paint the brick to match the second floor siding. Put in either foundation evergreen shrubs or a planter box to hide the concrete. Update the window treatment. Paint your front door a bright color for now.

THE FIRST DOOR ABOVE I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. IM HAVE TO DRIVE 2 HRS TO THE SHOWROOM TO CK IT OUT N PERSON N SHELL OUT $3000 FOR 36X80 BUT IT'S A MUST HAVE FOR ME, IF THE HUBS DOESNT PUT THE BRAKES ON ME. LOL THE DOOR IS THE STATEMENT PEICE N MY LITTLE HUMBLE ABODE. I JUST PRAY THE QUALITY N THE WARRANTY MEET THE STANDARDS.

Ps. I like the blunter idea more than the shrubs. The reason why is a planter can be easier to maintain & also few plants are less attractive to small animals & birds in hopes that u don't have a critter problem. If you are not much into gardening I would say take the brick/slate/rock all the way to the ground. For the front you could definitely do round rock & decorative grass. I have always loved that! I believe that I'm going to do that here in my yard! :) I am not a big 'gardener unless its in my actual garden. I like the rest of my yard clean & neat. No fuss!!

i would one or two (not sure of the width under the windows) wrought iron window boxes with some beautiful flowers. paint the door black as it will make it a focal point OR if you can afford to change it completely i would select something more contemporary with more square-edged windows along the top. the right greenery in the planter by the house is critical. i wold go with some large flax assuming they will work in your region of the country. if you can replace the walkway up to the house, i would remove the concrete and use flagstone embedded in pea gravel or possibly repurpose the concrete and use that for the walkway (broken up as it is quite pretty). replace the grass on the left as you want the focal point to be the front planter/window/door. i think it has lots of potential!!

Just played around with it a little bit. but changing your sidewalk to grey would bring out the grey siding and tie your home together. Adding white window heads and entrance system can also tie both brick and grey tones together. Also add in some grass and bushes for a finishing touch

the trim improves the entryway, but the door needs updating and window boxes will mitigate the bare look of the long window and the brick below. the shrubs are too small and do not make enough of a statement. needs more color too.

THANKS WORTHINGTON FOR THE VISUAL WORK UP. THE STEPS WILL BE RE DONE AND THE BRICK WORK WILL BE RE DONE IN STACKED STONE OR MAYBE SLATE AS SUGGESTED. THE WINDOWS ALSO WILL BE REPLACED. JUST WONDERING HOW TO BRING IT ALL TOGETHER.
