Bathroom wall tile too low?

My master bath ceiling to floor height is 93". I want to put up this mosaic and 12x4 subway on the wall. How high should the tile go? I have it taped up to the wall at 43". Is this too low?

Here are two options. Make sure you use tile with a bullnose edge to stop the tile on the wall appropriately.

If your vanity requires a backsplash then that dimension should set the height of the tile.

Beverly, thank you for your reply. Yes, I do have the 12x4 bullnose tile for the top row, but am considering switching it out to pencil tile and placing it above and below the mosaic. It's the cost of the pencil tile that I don't like!

Jan, thank you for your opinion!! I was discussing with my husband before you commented that maybe we should only do the tile in the shower and ditch the wall tile and finish out with 5-1/4" baseboard trim. Once I got the tile taped up, I was thinking that maybe it was too busy.

Jan, do you think the subway tile and the mosaic would look good in the shower?

I like the subway tile higher, like the 2/3 way up the wal photo but I say skip the mosaic

I am not loving the tile.......at all. I'm not sure what you're going for. ! If you want a light and bright bath......the floor seems wrong. If you want a warmer, toasty toned bath, why the white and sparkly mosaic? Is the floor tile new, or are you "working" with something already in place, and it's a cosmetic reno?

If the former ( floor is new) , repeat the floor tile on the shower walls, and find a nice simple mosaic to complement, for the shower floor. Then do all else, vanity, toilet, tub, etc in white, and take a pale tone of tile....... for wall paint.

It's very hard to tell from your idea books what you want in direction for the bath, as you are rather all over the place. That is right now........reflected in your bath: ) ?

Jan, thank you for your advice. Yes, the floor tile is new. We have already installed a Kohler cast iron shower pan in white where the old tub used to be. We've already purchased the subway tile and mosaic. The mosaic can be returned, but the subway tile was a special order. I can return that too (with a restocking fee). Would it look okay if I just used the subway tile in the shower?

Thanks Jan, now I want toast!

No but seriously, skip the subway tile everywhere but the shower (I presume the cast iron base is white so the shower will be all white) and skip the mosaic completely. Crisp white mouldings will tie it all together.

    I agree. Ditch the tile.

We used a "sterling" grout color on the floor tiles. Should I use the same grout color on the subway tiles for the shower or use "white" grout as I had originally planned? Glad I came to HOUZZ for advice!! Once I taped the tiles on the wall, I knew it was a bad look with the floors. My husband was no help, so I told him I would ask the professionals! You guys are so helpful!!

Grout in WHITE. It's busy enough : ) Second tip: Do NOT ask husbands......except for money.!!! ( unless they have a high end tv design show ala "flipping Out" )
