Scarlet runner beans are grown in every British vegetable garden solely for eating. No one would consider growing them for ornament only. We have dozens of named cultivars. And not all have scarlet flowers. It is important to eat them young and tender and we eat them almost exclusively as green beans. They also make tasty pickles. Keep picking. If you leave any flowering will slow down. Once the beans are visible bulging the pods will be too stringy. At this time of year I am giving them away to the neighbours. I have also tried them as shellies and as dried beans. Not worth the effort imo but they might pass in a soup. Runner Beans

I did read that SRB is extremely popular in English garden. I was attracted to the blossoms, dainty but yet making a strong statement. I have them climbing on both sides of the cucumber trellis. Below photo is one side of the trellis. Do you think the flowers could be denser than this? I did not pick the pods at all. i will follow your advise and pick at my earliest possible time to keep the blossoms going. Thank you!

The blossom density looks absolutely normal. If you have a generic 'scarlet runner bean' they may not be quite as tasty as one of the many named cultivars bred specifically for the table. But do try them. You may need to string them.
