That is a beautiful curved wall ... and one that's hard to use I imagine ! Do you need storage ? Or a display table ? Or maybe more wall art space ? The current bookcase appears too small in scale to the wall and very dark as well . Unless you have a real need , I'd leave the wall empty and see how it feels .

A colorful console table with nice lamp and piece of art or mirror would work well. Similar to a couple of Beverly's examples. I see the carpet is cut off and wall is curved so might need sofa table instead.

I like the idea of the sofa table but it block the walkway to the kitchen.

I think you could do sofa table once you remove that other piece you can get a 16" sofa table and have walkway space. A built in would take up more depth most likely and with curved wall pretty pricey to do. I will find some examples for you.

Something narrow like this and not too long (depending on length of your sofa would leave room to walk around into the kitchen area.

The Holly & Martin console table is only 48" wide and 8" deep, so that could work nicely. Price is right as well. There are others of a similar nature that would work well.

HI -- Does your sofa need to be that far away from the wall ?? If the sofa was push back a bit then all the wall would need is a big painting or some great bold wallpaper . Other wise look at the big wall units at Restorationhardware.com -- even if it is just for ideas .

Art on that wall would also look nice and not take up much space either. Something pretty large.

Could you put a matching fireplace on the other side and then put two chairs and a bench for another seating area? The other idea is a game table with two chairs and a painting.

Actually, to be honest I don't think a built-in would work well on that wall because you already have a wall of built-ins so it would get "crowded" visually. Perhaps a console with storage would be better as Beverly originally suggested. Have you priced what built-ins would cost? I find them quite expensive to build and IMO a piece of furniture would be much more interesting and useful on that wall is you must put something on the wall. It looks like the current bookcase just has shelves with photos mainly and perhaps some cabinet on the bottom? Maybe a storage bench might work for you on that wall? And art above the bench? Just trying to give you some alternative ideas.

The sitting room and the eating area is great ! And the curved wall - walkway is challenging !
Bucking the trending comments , I think a matching low built in would connect that wall and include it in the room .
It may be prohibitively expensive and you will want to know you will love it !
How about you empty the bookcase , lay it on its side where the built in would be , pull it away from the wall as deep as the builtin would be and live with the space - will the potential built in squeeze your walkway ? How much storage will it get you ..

Here's another angle. I have priced having something built in like the photo below. My contractor said $800 unpainted. We are painting all the walls white and adding LED downlights.

Flo, my concern is the same as yours as far as it being visually crowded. Perhaps I'll consider the consoles that Beverly suggested.

would the hutch fit on to the wall with the small painting/picture? That is to say, the hutch will then be facing the walkway along the curved wall. Decorative items, pictures, etc. would be the first thing that would be seen when people come around. the curved wall can be kept empty, a breathing space, if you will.
