Hi, Lefty47 - thank you for the idea! She might be brave enough :) I sent her the link to this post and she will be following it. I've also added a pic of the color (from Pinterest) below:

After painting, please rehang the wall art/mirrors centered 5' above the floor or 5" above any furniture below them, and pull the leggy chair completely on the carpet so it is grounded. It seems there is a lot of floor space past the sitting and dining area? Can that be incorporated into the social parts of this room? Since the fabrics and textiles are pretty neutral, I would work with the blue in the drapes, or for a more dramatic change, see if there is a color in her closet that she always gets compliments on, and just start from with that as the wall and or accent color.

Hello, decoenthusiaste, thanks for the pointers! The mirror and print on the dining wall can be hung differently, and I believe she has other pieces to add. The kitchen is opposite the sitting/dining area, the photo below should give you a better idea of the space (oops, another oddly hung print:) -

The area rug, by the way, is set into the floor, not on it, and can't be moved.
