Cabinet Height Above the Sink

last modified: 8 years ago

The cabinet maker, who quit midway, made all upper cabinet boxes the same height except the ones over the stove where the cabinet base is 35 ' about the stove burners. But the cabinets above the sink are standard. While washing in the sink, I find that cabinet too low and it hinders me from reaching the back of the sink. Another carpenter is going to make it shorter but I am in a dilemma about the height of the upper cabinet base above the sink: 1. Same height as the cabinet above the stove - 35" above the stove (30 inches of back-splash showing with a 5" high vent); or 2. Same height as the bottom of the vent so it will be at 30 inches above sink and 30 inches of back-splash will show. Mainly, visually what will look better - the stove and sink cabinet bases at the same height or the back-splashes at the same height?

(Sorry about the messy kitchen!)
