What color to paint kitchen island?

I'm trying to decide on a dark grey or medium grey to paint the kitchen island. The walls were just painted Benjamin Moore Abalone. The floors are brick. The adjoining family room has grey carpet. Do you think a very dark grey is best, or lighter grey or something else? Thanks!

i have classic french grey by SW in my family room and love it with the brick fire place, but i love peppercorn as well.

Take a look at Sherwin Williams "PEPPERCORN". I love it with my lighter grays.

This is ok, but I'd go with a lighter gray. Get a pro to do it, too.

The walls used to be blue. That is why the island is blue. We have the painter lined up already. :)

How about black instead? I don't see gray mixing well with the rest of the kitchen.

Hi, I think lighter grey, or black...maybe too dark though. Get a couple 12x12 cheap panels paint four different color choices, and lean up against island live with them a few days moving, and flipping. For me if I can see it thru out the day makes decision easier. Good luck!

Thanks! One more ?- if going with a lighter grey on the island, does it need to be a touch darker than the walls (which are BM Abalone)? I assume that matching island color to walls would look odd?. Here is a close up of the granite too. It has some blue specks in it.
