10' high sliding patio doors?

Hi there!

We are installing 10' sliding glass patio doors in a new addition and are looking for companies that sell such large sliding doors. So far we've only found Fleetwood and La Cantina offering 10' tall doors. Pella also sells 10' accordion style, but no sliding.

Can anyone recommend other companies that sell 10' sliding windows? Thanks!

Eric

I don't know. But, have you seen those wall to wall accordion doors? Fantastic! Oops, I just noticed you know about accordion style. Depending on your climate, I vote accordion.

Either do Nano door.s.......or get eight foot sliders and add a transom above. You'll have plenty of light and view.

How wide an opening are you looking at?

The opening is 20' wide by 10' tall, but there is a structural beam in the center of the 20' opening. So functionally it will be two separate 10'x10' doors.

So far we've found three companies that can do this in a two panel door:

    - Fleetwood - Has a few series that would work, but the one we have our eye on is the 3000T (u=0.4) for which we've received ballpark prices of around $5K per 10'x10' door.

    - All Weather Architectural Aluminum - 8000 series (u = 0.32, shgc = 0.25) Still waiting on a quote.

    - Styline Windows - About $16K per 10'x10' door. U = 0.37, shgc = 0.25

Also La Cantina it turns out to have a max width of 9' for their 2-panel doors, so they're out. The wood-clad aluminum door we saw had a u=~0.32 and was about $9k/ 10'x10' door.

In terms of why we did not want the "nana" or "accordion" style doors: My wife is deathly afraid of bugs and wants to leave the doors closed most of the time. So maximizing glass surface area and reducing cost push us toward the standard 2-panel sliding patio doors. The accordion styles are about 50-100% more expensive and most require structural changes to support the weight of the door.

Consider sliding doors with transom above.

I'd probably do four sets four feet with casing and transoms. Lots more welcoming unless looking for wow!!!!!!! WOW!!!!

Also consider your need for coverage........ day or night $$$$$$$$

i think transoms would look better and cost less and give more options. and the doors would be less hellishly heavy to move.

also consider two supports, so you dont have one smack dab in the middle. i like 30% /40% /30%.

Need to see your addition please. If there are other windows, you want them all the same height?

Since your proposed openings are pretty wide, you could do OXXO sliding doors... 2 middle panels slide apart... 2 outside panels are stationary.

I've only seen OXXO with three foot sections. Stacking or custom. Not sure you can get screens that big.

If you are going for a slider a Lift and Slide would be a great choice.
