nardello pepper hot! cross pollination, ?

for the last two years every once in a while a jimmy nardello sweet frying pepper turned about to be hot , both this year and last year, this year i guess it could have been cross pollination between them and the nearby hungarian wax hots and some cherry hots. but last year i didn't plant any hot peppers so i really don't get it. i love this pepper because even green it has a beautiful taste and i don't want to stop growing it. but i don't have the patience to taste every pepper to see if its hot. maybe the seed wasn't pure? iordered once from seed savers exchange and once thru internet. any advice on maybe a better seed source ? also has anyone planted the marconi red pepper i did get seed once and seemed to be a thick skinned long bell type . but its supposdto be long. again seed wasn't to type.
