No. This staircase does not pass the IRC building codes.

Arke--What is the area of non compliance for the Arke Kompact U Shape Stair when installed in townhome as primary stair? I an architect with2 story townhome project requiring four winder stairs for second floor and roof access.

There are 3 areas where the staircase design does not meet the general IRC building code for this type of primary egress stair. 1) The handrail is not continuous. 2) The width of the treads is 35" where the code specifies a minimum of 36". 3) The depth of the "turning" stair treads must be at least 4" at the inside. The "turning" stair treads are just less than 3" at the inside edge.
