Identify this pest?

I have these little cocoons attaching to the underside of my leaves and seeds pods and I have no idea what they are. My adeniums are looking bad and I've lost 4 pods on one plant already.

They are attached with a white silky type of substance. I peeled the outer layer of one off (and that was not easy) and inside is a little reddish brown looking worm with darker brown horizontal stripes wrapping around the body. It is protected with that white substance all around it inside the little bag/cocoon.

Pics aren't the greatest, but hoping someone might know what they are and maybe how to stop them from attaching to my adeniums. Thanks!!

Deborah

Attached to underside of pod on left

Pulled off of pod

Peeled the fibrous cocoon open and gently squeezed worm(?) out

Best shot I could get of the thing!!
