Final Kitchen Reveal

Hello, all!

Wanted to thank everyone that contributed to our initial
thread asking for help on kitchen layout.
We really benefit from the input.

For the sake of completeness, we thought it would be
appropriate to post the final build photos.
They are below. Happy to answer questions that anyone has.

For point of reference, the ceiling height in the kitchen is 10 feet, the kitchen is 20 feet wide (fridge front to counter on the other side if the island), and the distance from the seating side of the island to the back wall (where the wall-sink is located) is about 13 feet).

    Specs:

    1. Refrigerator: GE Monogram 42”
    2. Rangetop: Bluestar 36” RNB
    3. Vent Hood: Proline 42” insert with in\-line blower
    4. Dishwasher 1: G6365SCVI (Paneled)
    5. Dishwasher 2: Thermador Sapphire DWHD650JFP
    6. Oven: 30” Electrolux Wave Touch
    7. Sink 1 (wall): Extra Large Hahn Chef Series
    8. Sink 2 (island): Medium Hahn Chef Series
    9. Faucet 1 (wall): Delta Leland Kitchen Faucet
    10. Faucet 2 (island): Delta Leland Bar Sink Faucet
    11. Counter: Blue Kratos Quartzite (Leathered)
    12. Backsplash: Ocean Honed Marble (hand\-selected)
    13. Disposals: 2x KitchenEater 1 HP

    A few random observations:

    A. There is a trash pullout and a dishwasher on either side of both sinks. Yes, that runs counter to some of the conventional wisdom here, but we have members of the household (not just kids; guests, parents, grandparents, etc.) who aren’t going to be sufficiently regimented to only use the wall sink for cleanup. We have enough room between the island and the wall such that both dishwashers can be open and you can still walk between the two without having to swerve around. It works for us.

    B. Yes, two different dishwashers, one paneled, one not. Two reasons: First, we wanted paneled on the wall because it’s visible from line of sight. Second, we wanted one not-paneled dishwasher because, frankly, sometime visitors/guests/housekeepers in our prior house couldn’t find the dishwasher. I’m not kidding. And we wanted different brands for their differing features: the Miele actually gets plastics dry; the Thermador has a 20-minute complete cycle.

    C. One can never have too much cabinet space. Also, pull-out shelves in each of the base cabinets was a complete win. We toyed with all drawers in the base cabinets, but ultimately we like the look of the doors more than all drawers.

    D. Kitchen-related: Yes, we use a breakfast nook, a dining room and bar seating. They all serve different purposes.

Photos below. Thanks again to everyone for their help!

Lovely! I like your countertop a lot--and the lights above the island!

I really like your counters too, and your floors!

What color of fabric for the window treatment are you going to choose?

Unclear as to color. For now window treatments are not needed from a functional standpoint, so we are going to live without treatments and see what direction we want to take.

What are the dimension of the stunning island, please?

Gorgeous counters - looks very unique !

Appreciate the comments on the counters. We really like them. We spent a lot of time getting to know the folks at the stone yard and agonizing over the choice.

This particular quartzite has a ton of movement and doesn’t have a lot of gold/cream tones, which we wanted to avoid.

Also, leathering as a finish is great. Fingerprints just don’t show up. We are big fans.

Very nice. It's close to the dimensions of mine that I have to reno. I'm dealing with a different first floor plan but I like the fridge location and I also want two dishwashers. Well, I like a lot of what you've done. Congratulations! I hope you enjoy the heck out of it.

Absolutely love the quartzite. It's beautiful. The pendants is perfect with the island dimensions.

Hope you have many years of enjoyment.

That is a wonderful looking kitchen. I know it's been said many times upthread- but- gosh- those are gorgeous countertops. That is a very special quartzite. I love the gold toned pendants with the beautiful colors in the stone.

Kitchen looks beautiful. Still laughing that you had guests that could not find your dishwasher. Though on the positive side, at least they were looking for it!!

    Beautiful kitchen!

Add me to the counter admirer list!!!!

lovely! I love your island lights and counters especially are divine! enjoy your wonderful space!

A point worth mentioning on the counters—the leathered look on these slabs was completely different than the polished look (we had the leathering done to polished slabs). It muted some of the wildness that made my wife very nervous about overpowering the rest of the kitchen. We were definitely holding our breath.

Thanks to all for the kind words!

If anyone has any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Lots of folks helped us, so we want to pay it forward.

Karen--you're very kind. You post did make me realize we'd never posted final plans. They are below for the sake of completeness. Measurements probably moved a bit, and some of the details changed (we added the second dishwasher, and we put a set of French doors from the office to the great room, for example), but this was pretty much final.

I love the counters too...especially the island. So jealous of your kitchen!

Wow, I love the dimensions of your kitchen. The quartzite is fabulous. I'm so happy for you that having it leathered turned out so well. It really goes well with your backsplash. I love your wood floors, too. Nice, rich color. The touch of gold in the light fixtures and the warmth of the wood work really well in there. Congrats on a beautiful kitchen.

Lovely kitchen, such a pretty front view with the contrast of the pendants! I also love how you thought through how people would use it and based your decisions on those needs.
