I do not have a murphy bed but have clients in lofts where they are perfect for the space. IMO a lot more comfortable than a hide-a-bed

We've had one in the basement for many years. The room previously served as an office/guest room, and the Murphy bed was perfect for that. A comfortable bed for guests, and out of the way when used as an office.
Now one of my sons is using the room as his bedroom, somthe bed is permanently down, but he is very happy with it.

Many many years ago had a murphy bed - it was very comfortable but I got tired of making the bed up so I could hide the bed during the day and then pulling it down for the night. (guess I was lazy in my younger days).

We love our Murphy beds. We have two twin size beds in our tv room that our kids use anytime they have a spend the night guest. I don't think I would put a guest on them but I could kick the kids out of their room and offer their big beds to the guest :). I attached a picture to show you them. People can't believe they are beds when they see them!

I also have two murphy beds. I bought a traditional murphy bed a few years ago. It works great! My only problem with it is that it is bulky and makes the room look like a bedroom. We just bought a second murphy bed and this one is a different kind. It is called a cabinet murphy bed. Folds up into a cabinet, takes up less space, and doesn't make the room look like a bedroom. Pretty cool. Only downside to this one is you need to use a trifold mattress. So both have their ups and downs.

@Joe Caldwell, is there a difference in comfort between the regular Murphy bed and the cabinet Murphy bed?

What website/manufacturer did you choose for the Murphy bed? The reviews seem very mixed.
